Family Focused Therapy

Finding the right kind of mental health support can be difficult. Oftentimes, therapists require you to drive to an unfamiliar office, expect you to explain the challenges you're having at home, and then return home to try and put what you've learned into action. Why not explore, learn, and change things in the home in real-time?

With Happy Homes Counseling, I can provide individual and/or family therapy directly in your home to address real challenges in real-time. Regain control of your life and bring happiness back into your home.

Finding the right therapist is a really important step.

About Me

My name is David Elliot and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I believe everyone has the right to pursue happiness and that everyone possesses the capacity to seek out their own happiness. My clinical focus is on family dynamics, ADHD, substance use, and behavior management; though I have experience working with an array of different clients and cater my therapeutic approach to each individual. My background is in Structural Family Therapy, which aims to identify and refine each family member’s role to enhance healthy boundaries and relationships between each family member. I also utilize CBT and mindfulness to increase mutual understanding, compassion, & empathy.

I like to bring my lighthearted demeanor to create a safe and non-judgmental environment into your home to help you and/or your family navigate challenging situations through open and honest dialogue. Once we've established a safe space, you will learn and effectively use the tools you need to have a home with loving, understanding relationships.

When I'm not helping clients, I am often enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking, snowboarding, and jogging, and on a rainy day, I enjoy cooking, playing drums, and watching my 90-gallon saltwater fish tank. If you feel like Happy Homes Counseling would be a good fit for you or your family, please give me a call to schedule your appointment today.

Family Therapy

Sometimes kids can be a handful, especially since they don’t come with a manual. It’s common for screaming matches and stonewalling to become the norm when conflicts arise. When this happens, everyone is left frustrated, unhappy, or even hurt. When these conflicts go unresolved, they only reinforce arguments and feeling unheard. With the right tools, my clients learn to be present with one another, relate and understand each other, and address conflicts with confidence and ease.

Individual Therapy

No matter how old you are, we are all a child to someone. It’s important to understand our upbringing and how that has shaped who we are today. Childhood experiences can be passed on from generation to generation, perpetuating patterns that may or may not work for us. And sometimes we overcompensate in order to not be like our parents. Whether you are seeking support for yourself or your child, understanding how you relate to yourself and others can dramatically alter your perception and the actions you take, which ultimately changes the way others relate and interact with you. You or your child can become the master of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a way that leaves them fully expressed, understood, and in control.

All About Therapy

According to the American Psychological Association, “Psychologists help people of all ages live happier, healthier and more productive lives.” Through the use of various psychotherapy methods and collaborative treatment measures, my patients develop life-changing habits to help them cope with any of life’s various obstacles. My therapy sessions are designed to dissect personal issues and provide patients with effective tools to help them understand unhealthy patterns and create new, effective patterns in the way they relate to themselves and others.
